Wałeckie

Wałeckie Lakeland is a mesoregion stretching across the southern part of the Westpomeranian Region and the northern part of the Wielkopolska Region. It is located between the two largest tributaries of the Noteć – the Drawa and the Gwda.

Wałeckie Lakeland boasts about 160 lakes with an area of over 1 ha. The largest lake is Betyń Wielki. It is a densely-forested post-glacial area, which in the Westpomeranian Region is fully included within the Wałcz District (due to the course of rivers and the close connections with Wielkopolska, the Wałcz Lake District often covers the Jastrowie Commune), and the connection to Wielkopolska via rivers makes it difficult to divide this commune.

The largest town of the Wałeckie Lakeland is Wałcz. This area partly covers the terrain of the protected landscape of the Wałcz Lake District and the Gwda Valley. It features eight lakes over 100 ha:

a) Bytyń Wielki (area 877 ha, depth 10,2 m),
b) Zdbiczno (area 276 ha, depth 29 m),
c) Raduń (area 228 ha, depth 25,1 m),
d) Businowskie Duże (area 172 ha, depth 13,9 m),
e) Szczurzarz (area 149 ha, depth 17,4 m),
f) Tuczno (area 135 ha, depth 20,2 m),
g) Zamkowe (area 133 ha, depth 41,5 m),
h) Łubianka (area 108 ha, depth 17,8 m).

The Wałeckie Lakeland contains the following sailing ports:

a) the Amateur Sailing Club AKŻ 90 in Nakielno (Bytyń Wielki),
b) the „POZŻ-Kliwer” Sailing Base in Drzewoszewo (Bytyń Wielki).

The  Wałeckie Lakeland offers more than 800 beds. The area is easily accessible. Two national roads intersect in Wałcz: No. 22 from Gorzów to Elbląg and No. 10 from Szczecin to Warsaw. The Wałcz Lake District has good transport connections with Wielkopolska and the Lubusz Land, and thanks to the roads going north it is well-connected with the Drawsko Lake District. The roads are in a good condition, and are consistently improving.
