Waterskiing is a sport invented in USA in 1922 by Ralph Samuelson. It became popular all over the world in the countries with the right conditions for this kind of sport, like large water reservoirs with no waves – rivers, lakes and closed sea bays. In Poland, water-ski lifts are already operating in Augustów (740 m), Lublin (760 m), Ostróda (800 m) and in Szczecinek (finished in July 2008, the largest water-ski loop in Europe and second largest in the world – 1080 m).
In the Westpomeranian Region there are 3 waterskiing clubs:
a) The “Ski-Line” Szczecin Waterskiing Club,
b) The Szczecinek Wakeboarding and Waterskiing Club ,
c) The Szczecinek Local Tourist Organisation
Once every few years, in Szczecinek, there are the Polish, European and World Championships in waterskiing on the ski lift.
